Review Policy & Comparison Criteria
How we compare manual brewing products and the boundaries of our specification research.
Evidence Limitations Notice
Bore & Bed conducts desk-based specification analysis, not hands-on laboratory bench testing. We do not generate simulated particle distribution charts, extraction curves, or sensory lab metrics. Our assessments are editorial comparisons grounded in verified schematic drawings, declared materials, standard kitchen ergonomics, and universal filter measurements.
Core Comparison Criteria
| Evaluation Pillar | Analysis Focus | Kitchen Workflow Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Filter Interoperability | Alignment with standard 01/02 cone, wave, or disc filters. | Ensures ongoing consumable availability without proprietary supplier lock-in. |
| Thermal Behavior | Material heat dissipation (thick ceramic vs plastic vs glass). | Determines pre-heating water requirements and heat loss during domestic pour-over. |
| Disassembly & Cleaning | Thread counts, small unsealed springs, and sink washability. | Identifies routine maintenance friction and water trap points that cause burr rust. |
| Burr & Axle Stabilization | Stainless steel vs ceramic burr sets and dual-bearing shafts. | Evaluates grinding speed, crank effort, and mechanical alignment under manual load. |
